Weeping Fig, Ficus Benjamina 20 Seeds- Bonsai/Patio etc
Weeping Fig, Ficus Benjamina - 20 Seeds
Weeping fig or Ficus Benjamina is excellent house or patio plant. It is even more stunning as a bonsai.
One of the best known and widely used houseplants. This is for a good reason, glossy leaves grow in profusion creating the classic indoor tree. Keep out of draughts and away from radiators to avoid the 'weeping' and keep the fig.
Site: Bright to light shade.
Temp: Average warmth.
Water: Quite regularly in the growing season but leave to dry out slightly first. Rarely over the winter months. Benefits from occasional misting.
Feeding: A liquid feed every month or so.
Tip: Prune to shape in the winter.
A well established plant will tolerate a wider range of conditions than a young less established plant.
The plant does not have a well defined growing season or rest period, a number of leaves naturally turn yellow and drop off in winter but on a healthy plant these will be replaced in early spring.
Sowing: Ficus benjamina Variegata seeds will usually germinate in 15-90 days, even under good conditions germination may be erratic. Normally will only germinate with light. Sow Ficus benjamina Variegata seeds on the surface of a Peaty seed sowing mix at about 25°C.
Sow on the surface of moist compost, use a translucent cover to allow light in and to keep the compost humid and warm (do not place in direct sunlight)
