Bold spires of lanceolate leaves produce architectural clumps. Sprays of tubular orange-red flowers are carried on strong stems into late autumn. An inexpensive way to grow a wide selection, including dwarf, purple, green, and variegated leaved forms.
Phormium is evergreen, frost hardy and don't need any protection, but they do like a sunny spot and well drained compost or soil . Looks superb in patio pots or in the border as a contrast plant .
Sowing advice: H. COVER WITH COMPOST OR GRIT 5mm. DEEP. SOW IN GENTLE HEAT IN DAYLIGHT & KEEP MOIST. GROW ON INDIVIDUAL SEEDLINGS IN 3" POTS. PLANT OUT IN A WELL-DRAINED SHELTERED POSITION.
