Soil tolerances: clay; loam; sand; acidic; alkaline; well-drained
Site Requirements: Full Sun, well drained soil; protect from drying winds.
Uses: Good as a specimen shrub or in groups. Quite effective as a tall screen or informal hedge. Excellent container plants or Bonsai.

Sowing Crape Myrtle Seeds:
The seeds of Crape Myrtle are very small.
Light, cold stratification, and moisture enhance germination.
Scarify: Soak in water 24 Hours
Stratify: Cold 30 days, 40 Degrees F
Germination: Sow 1/16" Deep. Light may be beneficial in germination.

Don't over-fertilize Crepe Myrtles. Excessive fertilizing can reduce blooming, as the plant uses the energy to increase foliar growth. In addition to reducing your viewing pleasure, the result is often winter injury, as well.
