Description Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Commonly known as "live-forever" plants, Dudleyas have been known to live as long as 50 to 100 years. There are two distinctively types of Dudleya. One type forms pencil-like succulent leaves that develop into multiple rosettes, forming a spreading colony. The other is a thick-leafed succulent that forms a single rosette. Both types are excellent plants for rock gardens, decorative containers and accent ground covers.
Flower colors vary among species from red tones to gold or yellow to creamy white. Hardiness zones 8-11, (-10°C/15°F, 4°C/40°F). Most species will take some frost.It loves full light and grow well in a standard cactus compost. The best compost to use for these plants is two parts loam and one part of sand. After potting, no water is needed until the soil becomes pretty dry. From spring to autumn apply a balanced liquid fertilizer monthly and water moderately. In winter just water sparingly.
Dudleya species are becoming more readily available and their easy growing habit makes them worth getting to know.
